It's been a while. But in that a while, you could have amused yourselves with lots of media coverage on the alleged corruption in, again, Bulog.
Just one day before the first news broke up, one student came to me. She was furious at my liking the decision to import rice. But I made her convinced that while I'm all for rice market liberalization, I never like the idea of giving a monopoly to Bulog.
Dissolve Bulog.

110% agree with you. But off course you can for liberalizing market while at the same time you are for giving monopoly to bulog (or whoever). The two are either or kind of situation, isn't it?
"Liberalizing" rice market AND giving an import monopoly right to Bulog is NOT liberalizing at all.
This is liberalization: open the market and allow everybody import (or export)
Do you think liberalization is suitable with the situation in Indonesia? I think we should not to be theoretical person but practical person...
If we import rice because domestic price is higher than international price, it's Ok...it can reduce inflation..BUT....
Rice is not the same with other goods...if something bad (like very high international price in rice while no production of rice anymore in our country, is it import still good??)...I disagree with PERFORMANCE of BULOG...but I agree with the way of stability of price...which is one of the goal of BULOG...
If the world price is too high, farmers have all the incentive to plant more for export, don't you think?
I am the writer of the first comment her. It is a bit to late, but I need to clarify my earlier comment.
Yes.. I made mistake by saying 'can' instead of 'can not'. It suppose to be read as "you can not for liberalizing market while at the same time you are for giving monopoly to bulog"
sorry..
